The Language of Letting Go by Melody Beattie
This book, in part, inspired my painting entitled, “Letting Go”
I was first introduced to this little book when I was going through my divorce after 15 years of marriage. It refers to how an addict impacts the lives of the people around him or her, and how crazy you can become when you love someone who is addicted. I didn’t know how crazy I could get until it happened to me. I didn’t think the book would help me because the book was written about alcoholics, and in my case alcohol was not the culprit. What I came to realize was that addictions come in all forms, and they affect peoples lives all the same. I highly recommend this book and any of Melody Beattie’s many books on the topic.

I purchased my copy of, The Artist’s Way” back around 1995, and, despite my skepticism whether the exercises in the book could actually help me as an artist I dove right in and almost immediately found myself thinking, “This is good.” I have met many artists through the years who have had similar experiences with this program. I recommend the book, and the” The Artist’s Way Workbook” as a thoughtful gift for any creative person, because all artists experience “Block” — writers, musicians, visual artists, even dancers. This is a powerful tool.
The one thing that I continue to use that I received from this program is my “Artist Dates”.
